JR NBA & LIL'BALLERS

The curriculum has been developed by NBA Basketball Operations and a team of experts in child development, physical literacy, and basketball fundamentals.


The program will include games that are modified to be age-appropriate and use age-appropriate equipment such as smaller basketballs and lowered hoops.

3v3 House Leagues

The 3v3 House league program is structured into 2 division based on skill and age level, with equal time devoted to skill development and 3on3 games. 

Ages 6 to 8

Programming will feature basketball drills and modified games on a lowered rim that are age-appropriate, simple and fun. Each session runs for 45 minutes, one day per week. 

Ages 9-11

3v3 House Leagues

Ages 9-11

 Sessions involve 1-hour sessions for an 8 week in length. Classes focus on fundamentals and complete basketball competency. 

FUN, BASKETBALL AUTHENTIC, MAXIMUM BASKETBALL TOUCHES

The Jr. NBA curriculum takes children through a series of drills and activities that address basketball fundamentals.

 

Objectives

  • Provide entry-level basketball program for young children 5 to 9 years old
  • Provide intermediate level basketball program for youth 10-12 years old
  • Build a community of league organizers, parents, coaches committed to minor basketball
  • Provide a fun, active and healthy learning environment 

Curriculum

  • The Jr. NBA program is a 10 to 12-week program that is between 45  to 60 minutes in length
  • Created in alliance with Canadian Sport 4 Life/Long Term Athlete Development initiatives. Tell me more

Our Equipment & Uniform

  • The Jr. NBA program includes age-appropriate equipment (smaller basketball and lowered adjustable hoops) 
  • Modified games for children of this age-range
  • Participants will use size-appropriate Spalding® Rookie Gear Basketball and receive NBA team-branded t-shirt articles – Good topics for articles include anything related to your company – recent changes to operations, the latest company softball game – or the industry you’re in. General business trends (think national and even international) are great article fodder, too.

Jr. NBA at Home

As recommended by public health officials and infectious disease specialists, social distancing is a critical way to minimize the spread of coronavirus, however, we also recognize that staying home for an extended period can be difficult.  


As part of NBA Together, we launched “Jr. NBA at Home,” an interactive content series providing basketball skills and drills featuring NBA and WNBA players that can be completed individually and in limited space to help young players around the world stay active and develop their game in a safe and healthy way.

 The JR. NBA hosted clinics for more than 2,500 students from the greater Toronto area led by current and former NBA players, WNBA players, Ambassadors, celebrities and mascots !
